Sheff make a long journey North looking to avenge last week's heavy defeat...

The Sheffield 2nd XV make another lengthy trip North this weekend, as they travel to Stockton-on-Tees to face off against Billingham Lions.

The Teesiders have seen some excellent results this term, with narrow wins over Tynedale Raiders, Harrogate and DMP in the League. They were also narrowly beaten by Wharfedale Foresters, who inflicted that hefty 55-12 defeat upon Sheff last weekend.

This one promises to be a real challenge for The Blue Boys, as they face a stern defence, but also a blistering attack from a team that has won four of their six league games this season.

Sheffield will be smarting from the scoreline in their loss at Wharfedale last week but will feel that valuable lessons will have been learnt in defeat. They will be pleased to name a somewhat settled squad, with the changes being more due to returning players rather than unavailable ones.

There is a welcome return for Adam Davenport in the Second-Row, where he will partner the young Archie Crapper, who seems destined to follow in his father’s footsteps and on current evidence may well usurp his ‘old man’. There is also a start for Stephen Hare, back from his injury lay-off last week and looking as strong as ever. DeNormanville and Bradford continue in the front row and will be accompanied by the effervescent Dom Ramsden this weekend.

In the backline Ed Anglin is promoted from 3rd XV action and Ben Collar, who made his first 2nd XV appearance last week, moves from the bench to 13. There is no Miles Langdale this week, but a return for Zed Richards sees Mitch O’Brien shuffle over from wing to fullback.

Sheffield will be looking to bounce back from defeat with a strong performance on the road, something that they are more than capable of doing. They have shown that as a squad they can develop and learn from defeat already this season. There is no reason that this weekend should be any different.

Good Luck Lads!
