Looking back at 2014/15 and forward to 2015/16

If you’re reading this then chances are you’re firstly, coming to or thinking of coming to the University of Sheffield (congratulations on avoiding an inferior establishment) and secondly, a passionate hockey player.

Our fourth team provides an excellent platform for mediocre hockey at its finest, but don’t be put off by our lowly stature, even in the fourth team you should expect to play competitive hockey. Of course, being the club’s lowest BUCS side does have its benefits however. We are able to offer an excellent balance between the playing and social aspect of university hockey. Moreover, if you are doing a course that leaves you short of spare time our slightly more relaxed training/playing schedule offers you the ability to play as much or as little as you please, although a commitment to the club is always appreciated.

Last season was very mixed for the fours. We played with gusto and passion but a couple of lacklustre performances let us down and we were unable to secure promotion. However, that being said, we challenged all season and there were plenty of positives to take from the campaign. We feel like we are now in an excellent position to hit the ground running and really throw down the gauntlet for the other teams in our league.

All the best,

Kim Jong-il
(Fourth Team Captain)
