Southern United Women's team to play top threat Auckland Football this weekend

Auckland Football are top of the table with Canterbury Pride, as after three undefeated games, lost 4-1 to the Pride last weekend.

With nine points to their name, Auckland will be coming out strong to make a come back to their loss and stay at the top of the table with points and goal difference.

Our Southern United Women's team had a bye last weekend, following a 3-0 loss to Northern Lights at the Turf on the 15th Nov. This bye came at a good time, allowing the team to rest up in preparation for a productive week of training and refocusing.

With no points on the board yet, SU will be working on their attacking play and keeping shots on target. They have played well and had strong possessional play over the last few fixtures, however, the lack of goals scored is keeping them out of the game.

Head coach Ignacio Sande is looking forward to making the trip up North, saying; "We always want to face the top teams in the league and Auckland has showed in the last 4 games that they are one of the bests, if not the best team so far."

Sande is proud of how the girls train and compete. He knows that the team are not at their best level and they are, "working hard to push ourselves and perform at our best in the upcoming games."

"We want to be competitive, and we want the Southern region to be proud of us.

"We are struggling in the last 20 minutes of the games and this has been reflected on the scores, so we are working on different strategies to try to enable us to be competitive for the full 95 minutes."

Auckland City will host Southern United at Riverhills Park, Auckland, 12:30pm kick off. Game will be live streamed on Sky Sport NEXT on YouTube - see our Facebook page for the link this weekend.
