Sharks U16s pipped in last two minutes

The Sharks U16s travelled to Crieff to play the District of Crieff & Strathearn. With a few key injuries, this was always going to be a tough game for the unbeaten Sharks. The Sharks led the match, scoring three cracking tries, right up until 2 minutes of play when a series of penalties helped the Crieff side gain field position resulting in a late try which sealed the game.

Cameron Stewart, in fine form at scrum half, scored the first try for the Sharks which was converted by Mark McQueen. The Sharks were playing some fine continuity rugby, attacking wide when a typical handling move released Alex Milne to gallop in from half way for an outstanding try.

Playing into the wind in the second half saw the Sharks play their best stuff with excellent attacks, though lacking the final killer line break. Christian Taylor, who had his best game in a Sharks jersey both in attack and defence, ran with real conviction to beat four defenders from well out to score the Sharks third try. Mark McQueen again converted. At this point the Sharks were well served by the driving play of Fergus Mitchell, the consistency of Paul McGregor and the field coverage of Christy Robertson. However, the "late show" from a Crieff try stole the day leaving the Sharks looking forward to Crieff visiting Forfar for "round 2".
