It’s down to the south-east this weekend as the 1stXV and Raiders head down to Humberside to take on Hull Ionians.
Back at Tynedale Park our Hadrians take on Morpeth Edwardians in a league match whilst the Centurions are on the lookout for a fixture as their original opponents now have a cup-tie.
Our Colts have two league matches over the weekend – at home to Melrose Wasps on Saturday in the Border League whilst on Sunday they travel to Peterlee and Horden in the HALBRO North East and Cumbria League.
Lots of good rugby going on.

LEAGUE BATTLES BETWEEN THE IONIANS AND TYNEDALE.
When League rugby was introduced in 1987 Ionians and Tynedale were founder members of North 1 – level 5 rugby. The teams competed there for thirteen years, until Tyne gained promotion in 2000. Hull finished second to Tynedale that 1999/2000 season, and were then promoted two years later in 2002.
Until 2018 Tynedale dominated the League fixtures, winning 12 of the 14 matches played, and scoring 403 points, with 217 points against.

However, things then changed dramatically.

Hull Ionians won five of the next six matches, with one drawn. However, as Tynedale won both matches last season, league wins are now 14-7 in Tynedale’s favour.

HULL IONIANS THIS SEASON
Hull Ionians have made a decent start to the season after last season’s disappointing time.

They currently sit in 7th position in the league having won 4 of their 10 matches to date – they have in fact lost the same number of matches as Tynedale (6) but critically Tynedale have managed only draws in three of our matches to date, and won only the one.
However you look at it Saturday is sure to be another tough, competitive match.
