It is a long way from Wheal Gherry to Twickenham but we are still on the journey! After playing 3 games we are now due to play Tamar Saracens in the Cornwall/Devon final.

So. How did we get there? Our first game was down at Perranporth which we won 27 - 19. With Perranporth taking a 7 - 0 lead in the first couple of minutes it was safe to say we didn't start the game as we had hoped. We gradually worked our way in to the game with some second half scores to take the win. In the next round we played Stithians and won 36 - 10. Similar to the Perranporth game, our second half performance helped us pull clear to get through to the Cornish final against Liskeard.

We never expected an easy game against Liskeard and sure enough it wasn't until the last few minutes did we get ahead and hold on to win the game 28 - 27. We always felt that we were in the game and there were some strong performances in particular from Bevin Stone, Joe Parma and Perran Gale that helped get us the big 'W'. We will be facing Liskeard a couple of more times this season in the league and potentially the cup and we look forward to more good, hard games!

For the trip up north to Liskeard we had 7 new players in the starting line up and bench who have joined us during the summer. Adam Coombes, Dan Shears and Ben Page have added their considerable frames in to our forwards. In the backs Joe Parma, Perran Gale, Gareth Williams and Jamie Flood have helped provide us with some speed, power and, of course, silly coloured boots.

So three away games and three victories. Are we happy with the performances? If we are honest, then 'no' would be the simple answer. We are looking to develop how we play and we can see this happening throughout the games. It is just making sure we continue this throughout the season and keep on building on it. The key thing is we have got the three victories which sets us up well ahead of our first league game against CSOM this Saturday.

The venue for the game against Tamar Saracens is still to be decided.
