October Half Term Soccer & Sports Camp Complete As Local Children Have Fun Through Football

Warrington Town’s popular half term multi-sport and soccer camp has been a success once again this week welcoming children to take part in an action packed week of activities while school has been out.

Run by Warrington Town’s community development officer James Standing who is supported by the club’s community partner United Utilities, he has overseen the delivery of football, rugby league, handball, basketball and cricket session while on Friday, the usual competitions day took place amongst the group.

On Tuesday the children aged 4-12 years, were joined by three very familiar faces from across the town.

Warrington Town mascot Ollie the owl, Warrington Wolves’ Wolfie and Gulliver’s World’s Gully mouse all took part in a mascot challenge which saw the group of children help and support their favourite. Gully mouse came out on top winning 2 out of 3 races, Ollie won one race while Wolfie failed to win a single competition!

James said “It was great to see Ollie, Wolfie and Gully taking part in the day’s events and after the way Gully played football in the team tournament in the end, I believe our first team manager Shaun Reid is looking to sign him on!”

The week saw over 40 children come through the club’s Abacus Solicitors Community Stadium home and each participant went home with a certificate and a goodie bag including a United Utilities water bottle, tickets to Gulliver’s World and a season ticket to come and see Warrington Town play this season.

James added “Our community partners and sponsors have been great this season and without them, we would not be able to offer this excellent service to schools and families throughout the year. Our camps run every half term and summer and are one of the most affordable in Warrington. Both boys and girls have attended and we have had a number of great comments from parents and guardians.”

The club have reached out to over 2,000 children in 2012 through its community programme working in local primary schools providing after-school club provisions and educational aid to everyone from reception to year 6 children.
