Wanderers finish 3rd in Super 5's

Welsh Wanderers senior men finished off their final weekend of super 5s with a great win against our old adversary Cheltenham and finish the league in 3rd place.
This was our first ever campaign at this level so no one knew what lay ahead on our first weekend.
We started really well with victories over champions Polytechnic and Manchester. We lost to Cheltenham and Sutton who are both very good sides but looking back we could have won.
This set us up nicely going into the second half with everything to play for.
We had a tough 2nd game game against Manchester losing narrowly by 1 goal.We beat Sutton and lost to Poly on the final weekend.
Our 3rd place means we qualify for the champions cup to be played May 11th in Coventry. We also have Div 1 qualification for next season.
Our final position proves how far this young side has come and how bright our future looks.
It is very difficult to single out individuals in a very good team side but i am going to anyway:
Nige,Tim, Dan and Jon have coached and raised the bar with excellent training and tactics.
Between the posts ‘Mantis’ and ‘the Colonel’ have delivered time and time again.
The foundation of any good side is the defence and none has exemplified this more than Lloyd who was always there when needed alongside Jack Monty and Kelly.
Matt,Ceri,Ieuan and Ollie have been solid in defence and a potent threat in attack.
Dan, Joe, Gilly were the main supply of goals and scored some absolute ‘crackers’
Tom has given great injection of pace and another attacking dimension. Lefty has been missed through injury but has helped us get here.
A special mention for our TJ’s Will and Jack particularly Jack who managed to score and get a major on his 17th birthday.
Thanks to all those have supported the team along the way it was a fitting end to the season to have such a good crowd at Coventry. Thanks to Stan for interviews and write-ups.
Well done boys you made us proud!
