In blustery conditions and occasional driving rain all the lads involved showed great running rugby, passing skills and some huge tackles. Such is the strength of grass roots rugby at this level that New Milton and Andover also brought two teams along, which with teams from Vectis, Trojans and Totton were to provide stiff competition for the two Winchester teams.
The Winchester Wizzards played some very close games against strong Andover, Tottonian and New Milton sides and game out on top against their old advisory Trojans. Jack Allen put in a huge effort to get Winchester Wizzards man of the match. The Winchester Warriors also played some great open rugby with the forwards doing the hard work up front and the ball being moved wide for the backs to chase down as best they could in the mud to score. They battled hard to get through their pool unbeaten to set up a final against Andover.
Some great defence by the whole team against a spirited Andover side and some sublime runs from Mark Thomson and Tom Palmer saw them finish the tournament on top. Tom Palmer was a well deserved winner of the Warriors Man of the match. Another day when rugby was the overall winner.
