Woolston Rovers Under 15s Golds player Jumah Sambou, who took up a Scholarship opportunity at St Helens at the beginning of the season

has been selected in the 19 man England Youth squad to take on Wales Under 16s this coming Saturday, kick off 2.30pm at Cardiff Met University and they will go into camp today (Thursday) to prepare for the game.

Jumah’s Coach at Woolston Scott Bolton was delighted when he found out yesterday morning. He said, “We are all extremely proud of Jumah but we are not that surprised by his selection to be honest. I have never seen a young player as naturally physically gifted and suited to our great game as what Jumah is and to think that just a few seasons ago he was languishing in a football goal and had never picked up a rugby ball in his life. It is a huge credit to the way Jumah has handled himself, worked hard and wanted to learn since joining us. This story should be a big inspiration to other players as well as it shows that you don't have to be playing since you were 4 or 5 to do well in the sport. I am very confident that this is the start of great things for this very humble and talented young man. Keep it up Jumah, and remember to always keep grafting because if you do the world is your oyster.”

Junior Section Chairman Johny Roberts echoed Scott’s sentiments adding, “This is fantastic news for our club that Jumah has been selected to play for England. This just goes to show the commitment from our coaches to help develop these kids into stars of the future is paying off. Jumah is now a role model for all of the Junior players within our club and this goes to show that with a lot of hard work and commitment the future could be bright for any of our players. On behalf of the Green & Gold family we wish Jumah the very best of luck playing for England in Cardiff.”
