With a sponsored ale it was always going to be a busy afternoon.

There was much to celebrate at the Peterborough Rugby Club beer festival on Saturday afternoon, especially if you were from Yaxley.

The rugby club had beaten local rivals Stamford in an O2 touch competition the proceeding evening and during the afternoon results went the way of the village football team ensuring they won the United Counties Football League gaining promotion to step 4 of the non-league pyramid for the first time in 118 years.

As the coaches and players of the Yaks took in the afternoon sun and kept looking for footballing updates the barrel of beer bearing the clubs name took a hammering.

For those who know their ale, the Yaks brew was the popular Citra from Oakham Ales. Its a blonde with a citrus finish.

By the time our Chairman made the bar to take in one last glass (for tasting purposes, of course) there was only enough in the barrel for a half!

Massive thanks to PRUFC for a great beer festival and to head coach of the Yaks, Andrew Burgess for organising the beer.
