Ben Murphy moves swiftly to appoint a new coaching team.

After losing his Assistant Manager, Craig Morgan-hiill, to the ladies section, Ben Murphy has moved quickly to bolster the coaching team by appointing Dean Taylor and Steve Saunders.

Dean Taylor joins as Assistant Manager after a very succesful period at Rogerstone AFC in the Gwent County. Dean had a very succesful playing career, spedning 16 years at Goytre AFC where they rose from the Gwent County League to the Welsh League Division 1. He also played at Fairfield United when they pipped Ynysddu Welfare to promotion, who were managed by Ben at the time. Deans first step into management was with Goytre Reserves and there they won the Welsh League Reserve Division, the only side to manage this whilst Cardiff Met were in the league.

Dean then moved onto Rogertsone and proved to be very succesful. In his first season they finished 3rd in the league and won the County Motors Cup after beating Abertillery Bluebirds in the final. The Bluebirds were a league above Rogerstone and had won the league only losing 1 game all season. In Deans second season they walked the league, finishing 11 points clear and had reached a semi final of the cup before COVID-19 put an end to the season.

Steve Saunders is also no stranger to Welsh football having played for Porthcawl Town and Risca United before a leg break put an end to his playing career. Steve moved into coaching at a young age and started working at Hereford FC Academy. Here Steve proved to be very succesful. He guided the under 16s to win the Nation Junior Premier League Cup and also managed the Under 18s in the FA Youth Cup. He soon became Head of Academy at the club and during a change of first team management he assisted the interim manager in 4 Conference North Games and two FA Cup games, including a remarkable 4-3 victory away at Truro despite being 3-0 down at half time!!

Steve had a very brief spell at Monmouth last season but due to personal circumstances he had to step down from the role and spend a few months out of the game but is now ready to step back into it.

Dean holds the FAW C Licence and Steve holds the B Licence.

We are delighted that we have managed to attract 2 very good coaches and we look forward to seeing the squad develop under their leadership
