A warm welcome all players officials and supporters of Dinas Powys FC.
Last week our performance against a decent Bridgend Street losing 6-0 was not good enough and over the past few weeks has made me realise that unfortunately I’ve taken this group of players as far as I can and a fresh face is needed to rejuvenate the lads and take them forward.
Having had a great time in charge over the past 2 and a half season it has given me great memories and pleasure in managing my home town team and almost gaining promotion.
Saturday's opponents come to Pen-Y-Pound hot off an excellent victory over Port Talbot in a result many didn’t see coming, so spirits and confidence will be high.
I’ve asked the lads to get back to playing high tempo exciting football and I’m hopeful that I can end on a high. I’m sure the boys will give their all for the cause.
I’d like to thank all the players that have played for me and everyone within the club especially the committee Dave, Alun, Richard, Tom as well as Steve, Jeff and all those who have helped at the club and for all their hard work. (Apologies if I have missed anyone)
The Chairman Rob Francis for giving me the opportunity to manage the team and I hope that he will look back on my time with fond memories as I have.
Will Cheshire our media man, unbelievable how he has promoted the club digitally during my time in charge.
A massive thanks to Chris Wilkins the kit man for organising every kit and essentials for the team as well as Ray Warren over the last few weeks who has given the team some calming advice in a time when tensions have been high.
Finally thank you to my assistant and friend Phil Hemmings without who probably I wouldn’t have lasted 2 minutes. The constant chats and discussions surrounding the team have been enjoyable and always ending with some sort of quick quip.
Going forward I hope to continue within the club and maybe have a run out now and again with the reserves but that will be if Jack wants me and I will always continue to support the club in any way required.
I couldn’t sign off too with a thank you to all the supporters, I’ll never forget the applause the boys got following our 2-0 victory over Swansea Uni last season down there special times.
Thank you all and I hope everyone enjoys the game.
See you all in the clubhouse after the game.
Ben.
