Managers Notes: Monmouth Town

Managers Notes: Monmouth Town

Will Cheshire15 Mar 2019 - 11:33

Another week off and yet another tough game ahead this weekend as we got to league leaders Monmouth on Saturday.

On the back of a great 1-0 win against a resilient and tough Aberbargoed outfit we managed to see the game out. Some may say the score line could have been more but having not been there I can only imagine.

Massive credit to my assistant Phil what a wonderful job he did in my absence ably supported by Chris and co. Hats off to them the my friends wedding celebrations were put on hold till 5pm and no fingernails left but after the excellent result and a great shift by the boys the festivities well and truly kicked in.

Today’s opponents and current league leaders, what can you say well at the start of the season especially when pre season fixtures were unfulfilled due to no team I’m sure everyone expected Monmouth to struggle.

Hats off to Nicky who has come in and got the Town playing for the badge and putting a little spring in the Kingfishers step, so big applause to him and his staff for what they have achieved this year. In the home fixture early on in the season you could see he had the boys playing for him and tackling and working their socks off in a dour 0-0 affair under lights.

I’m expecting a much more entertaining game this weekend. Nerves might be a bit tight as this is a massive game for both clubs and also a local derby to boot, so I’m sure it will add a bit of spice to the game.

On the player front a great squad to pick from so the boys go into the game knowing what is required to secure the 3 points. Only Bradd is on the injured list and it looks like his season is done due to a back injury, however we live in hope he could make the final couple of games but we will see. Massive thanks to him for the part he has played all season.

Also again thanks to the travelling fans, who once again gave the boys their undying support at Aberbargoed. We really cant thank you enough for your time and efforts and long may it continue.

On another note good luck to Richie and the women's team on Sunday in the FAW Cup semi final against Cardiff City.

Hope you all enjoy a good game.

Ben.
