ATCC rise to second....

A great week at ATCC ended perfectly last Saturday at the Park....

After an early pitch inspection, it was deemed that the news covers and 'Bowdry' had saved the day. The game with Llanarth would have to be shortened and delayed but would go ahead.

After losing the toss, ATCC were asked to bowl first which rather surprised the team (who hadn't bothered to look at the hard pitch) and after a solid first few overs from the visiting openers it was looking like a good decision.

However, 'Wes' Price was roaring in from the pavilion end and eventually got opener Lonax to edge to gully where 'Rigger' Trapnell took a sharp catch. This was to prove the theme of the day.

Price struck again twice in quick succession ripping the heart out of the Llanarth batting. Opening partner Myson got into the act too removing the dangerous Dewfield after a skied drive was brilliantly caught over his shoulder by Andy Humphries.

Llanarth's 5 and 6 mounted somewhat of a fightback by hanging around but eventually Stentiford was given lbw off Ali leading to a steady stream of wickets. Llanarth all out 64.

After the early scare of losing the usually consistent Humphries to a smart catch down the leg side by the visiting keeper, Page, ATCC were led home by opener Dave Twin and youngster Ioan 'iFish' Fisher. Indeed Fisher produced somes Gower-esque drives in his 28 to the roars of the home support.

ATCC ran out 8 wicket winners just in time for the Welsh and Slovakian anthems....
