The opening few minutes of the first half we were passing the ball around like Barca, with more competed passes than I can remember in a long long time. But that moment soon passed and we were soon fighting for the ball in a competitive opening 45 minutes during which possession was shared equally. They created a few chances, but a dogged ABF defence (all members of the 50+ club) kept the young Rijnlanders at bay.

We got the opening break when a wildly miss-hit clearance from the hosts saw the ball end up in the back of their own net. We then extended the lead when Ed finished off a fine move down the right with a diving header. 0-2 at half time and things looking good.

During the tea break, someone did mention the phrase that is now officially banned, and sure enough we did the opposite of aforementioned phrase and they got a goal back within the first few minutes of the restart.

Rijnland played much better in the second half and we fell off the pace,creating maybe one chance, with little sustained possession, while they pressed hard. With 20 minutes left on the clock they got their third. On the balance of play it looked like we were going to lose a game we should never have lost having held a 2 goal lead.

Fortunately, in the 89th minute, Nick latched on to a ball down the middle, held off the attentions of their defender and slid the ball passed their keeper.

At the final whistle, the draw felt like a win!!

No prize for guessing for our position in the league table.

Easter weekend next week so no game. Maybe a kick around if there is enough interest.
