Movement likely at the top of AFC Portchester's all-time goalscorers list

Movement likely at the top of AFC Portchester's all-time goalscorers list

Graeme Moir19 Dec - 11:47

There could be some significant movement on AFC Portchester’s all-time goalscorers list in the weeks and months ahead.

Several current players are closing in on new positions on the list and there could be some changes among the top six places if members of the current first team squad continue with their rich veins of goalscoring form.

The club’s record goalscorers list is generated from the data available since the club joined the Wessex League in 2004.

The Royals’ all-time record goalscorer may not be caught for a little while yet such is his lead at top spot. But there are a few current Portchester players who are starting to reel in the overall leader.

Simon Woods leads the all-time AFC Portchester goalscorers list with 97 goals from 176 appearances.

Woods got his first goals in an orange shirt during the 2009-10 season, when he went on to score a total of 17 during that campaign.

The most sizeable chunk of his goal haul for the Royals came during the 2011-12 season when he netted 38 goals, and he followed that up with 23 goals during the 2012-13 campaign.

His main period with the club was from 2009 through to 2014 but he returned for a brief spell during the 2018-19 season.

Steve Ramsey is second on the list with 74 goals from his 274 appearances for the Royals during his time with the club from 2015 to 2023.

The midfielder netted 17 goals in the 2019-20 season and 15 during the 2017-18 season.

Ramsey’s spot in second place on the list is now coming under serious threat from Lee Wort since his return to The OnSite Group Stadium this season.

Wort has now scored 71 goals in 98 appearances for Portchester and he has already hit six goals in nine appearances in an orange shirt so far this season.

His best season for goalscoring for the Royals was in 2021-22 when he notched up 40 in 47 appearances.

Fourth on the list is Alex Baldacchino who was with AFC Portchester from 2014 to 2020.

The striker has 57 goals from 99 appearances and he netted 20 goals in 2015-16 and 19 goals in 2017-18.

However, two current Portchy strikers have that fourth spot in their sights.

Brett Pitman holds fifth spot on the list with 50 goals - all scored during an incredible 2022-23 campaign. Pitman recently returned to the Royals on a dual registration basis with Southern League side Shaftesbury.

Sixth on the list is Harrison Brook, who has scored 48 times in 116 games to date for Portchester. His best goalscoring season so far for the Royals was last season when he netted 25 times.

George Barker is in joint ninth position on the list, having scored 40 goals in 141 appearances for Portchester before his departure this season to Moneyfields.

Three other current members of the first team squad will have their eye on making the top 12 all-time scorers list for the club in the near future.

Thirty-three goals is the requirement to make it on to that list and Marley Ridge is currently just three goals away from that target.

The free-scoring Ryan Pennery is not far behind on 26 goals so far in his Royals career and Connor Duffin currently has 19 goals for the club.
