80 years ago our community was at the centre of one of the most important events in modern history - D-Day. Thousands of troops were waiting on their orders to move and the final decision to go on June 6 was taken by General Dwight D Eisenhower at Southwick House. Our community will forever be closely linked with D-Day and we will never forget the bravery, sacrifice and honour given by so many. Everyone at AFC Portchester gives grateful thanks to and remembers all those who were involved in D-Day - the crucial turning point of the Second World War and the beginning of the liberation of Europe.
