A young Alloa side secured a great win on the road at St Andrews on Saturday.
With the wind at their backs in the first half, Fullback Joshua Knox opened the scoring in only his second start for the club. Lee Cairney added the conversion but Madras replied with a converted score of their own before half time.
As both teams turned around for the second half, Madras were potentially favourites to take the points with the wind advantage, but Alloa stepped up a gear and totally dominated the rest of the game with Matthew Pope scoring three unanswered tries, two of which were converted by Lee Cairney and the kicker also popped over a penalty.
The players deserve enormous credit for their gritty performance in the cold, wintry conditions and they will be hoping to take this form into next Saturday’s match at Falkirk.
