Allscott defeated by Hodnet

AFC Admin31 Aug 2012 - 10:29

Allscott defeated but not down hearted.

Allscott travelled to Hodnet on a rainy miserable day.

Allscott put a strong team forward to face an inform Hodnet who had not conceded a goal prior to this fixture.

The first half proved tricky for the away team who found it hard to deal with the weather conditions and wavy pitch.

Starting line-up was
Darren Walters, Aaron Minshall, Nigel Davis, Andy Bentley, Lewis Heston, Tom Worthington, Ben Parker, Tom Oldfield, Tom Gregory, Nick Bradshaw, Matthew Boswell

Subs: Marve Joseph, Tom Ford, Keith Fletcher

The first half kicked off and straight away Hodnet was keeping the possession and controlling the game in the middle of the park. A slick ball through to the Hodnet striker saw the home team capitalise and score their first goal.

Hodnets second goal came 10 minutes later after their striker in an offside position by 2-3 yards ran through the surprised Allscott defence.

Half time approached and you could see that the Allscott heads was well and truly down and needed a boost.

2nd Half kicked off and Allscott started playing some good football and played some keep ball which was positive to see. A superb move saw Tom Worthington with the ball at his feet walking through the Hodnets defence before being charged down and injured in the process. An injury that saw Worthington having an early bath. Worthington was replaced by debutee Marve Joseph who Tom Ford has been tracking for a while. Tom Ford switched to 4-4-2 with Joseph now partnering Boswell up to. Joseph made an immediate impact and Allscott started to dominate and challenge more.
After some good play the Allscott team switched off and let the Hodnets left midlfielder through to score their 3rd.

Marve Joseph was not giving up and the whole team stepped up. The Midfield of Oldfield Gregory Parker and Bradshaw pushed forward and pinned Hodnet back into their half conceding corners which Allscott capitalised on. Marve Joseph scored a wonder goal which 2 keepers wouldn’t have saved. 3-1 85 mins gone. At this point the clock was ticking. Allscott still showing heart and desire and winning corners. On the 90th minute a swooping corner came in which Davis attacked to see cleared off the line by the Hodnet defence.

Game ended 3-1...

Allscott now have to pick themselves back up and get back onto winning ways on Saturday against Ketley Bank.
