Bailey steps down as First Team Manager

A21

Neil Bailey has stepped down as Almondsbury First Team Manager with immediate effect.

Bailey who has made over 520 first team appearances for Almondsbury over 17 seasons, said in a statement released through the club; “It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I have decided the time is right for me to step down as Manager of Almondsbury Football Club. The Club has been such a huge part of my life for over 17 years and I pride myself in knowing that I have been part of it for so long”.

“Work commitments and my young family have both been main factors in my decision. It has not been an easy one to make and anyone who knows me knows that I bleed green and white”.

Bailey added “I accepted the Manager position four years ago knowing that the team were in a transition phase after finishing bottom of the Western League Division 1. I step down knowing that there has been a significant improvement in the team over the past four years. The club is in a better place than when I became Manager and I am very proud of my involvement in that. We’ve played some great football”.

“The players, Management Team and I have worked tirelessly to develop the team and the squad. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the players for their commitment and loyalty during my time as Manager”.

“I would also like to thank the back room and Management Team, in particular Jeff Meacham and Danny Lane who have stood alongside me for the past four seasons and been superb. Their dedication has made my successes possible.”

“I also need to thank the committee, in particular Chairman Mike Blessing for putting his faith in me to lead the first team.”

An official job advert will be advertised shortly. In the meantime anyone interested should contact Mike Blessing:
