In their return to action last week, a twenty yard Stephen Shendon drive registered Alnmouth’s response in their 4-1 defeat at reigning champions North Sunderland and the same player followed up this Saturday with no fewer than four at Josephine Butler Campus in a comprehensive defeat of Ashington Town.
Shendon’s six yard, left foot half volley gave the visitors the lead before Judd Donohoe doubled the advantage in the first period, finding the target from ten yards connecting with Glenn Robson’s pull back.
The Miners had also threatened however when Steven Frater saw his effort strike the bar.
Soon after the turnaround Shendon’s right foot volley from the edge of the area into the bottom corner made it three, followed up twenty minutes later with a free kick into a similar spot from even further out.
His fourth and United’s fifth arrived in the eightieth minute from close range thanks to Andrew Kiddell’s incisive break & centre.
