Congratulations to to Altofts under 14s for winning the Upton Gala today, beating Shaw Lane in the final and wrestling the trophy from their last three years of dominance.

In a very strong Doncaster based group of ten teams, including hosts Upton Utd, Doncaster Pumas and much fancied Sheffield League Champions Shaw Lane Juniors, Altofts finished top of their five team group, scoring ten goals and conceding only two.

The quarters and semis were both close run affairs, Altofts winning both games on penalties, defeating hosts Upton Utd in the semis with Pat Jones scoring the winning penalty in both games.

The final against Shaw Lane was a re run of the final two years ago when Altofts lost 1-0. This time a much stronger more physical Altofts side gave Shaw Lane lots to think about and the game ended up 0-0, Altofts winning the penalties with a fine strike from Ed Morton clinching the final 5-4.
