Well done to Regent House on their 13 - 7 School's Cup 1st round success over Royal School Dungannon.

The common bond between Regent House and Ards Rugby is well known throughout rugby in the whole of Ireland, with well known past players from both school and club such as Blair Mayne, Nigel Carr, Phillip Matthews and Brian McLaughlin.

In more recent years the bond has continued with immediate Past President John Barclay, current President Neil Workman, Vice President Warren Simpson, committee/sub committee members Billy Dickson, Rodney Jess, Stephen Nutt, Stephen Bell, Paul Thompson, Gareth Paden and current 1st XV captain Stewart Paul to name but a few.

Indeed, all of Regent House's points on Saturday were scored by former Ards mini rugby players, Jonny Harris, Aaron May and Taylor Nutt, former Ards 1st XV coach (and life member) Mervyn Tweed is also coaching the team.

Ards RFC club member, former 1st XV player and former 1st & 4th XV manager Robin Johnston is now on the Board of Governors at Regent House as well as having a vested interest in the school Medallion XV where his son and former Ards mini rugby player Robbie is the captain.

Ards Rugby Club sponsors The Stove Yard and Hughes Insurance are also main sponsors of rugby at Regent House.

A breakfast was held at the school prior to the game and new school Headmaster Michael Carvill made reference to this strong bond, he emphasised his desire to see it develop, with such intentions the rugby at the school and club can only flourish in the future.
