A comprehensive win for the 15 (B)s

In the early part of the season the U15(B)s were comprehensively beaten away at Thrumpton CC in the league and today provided an opportunity for the (B)s to equal the score on their home turf.
Having lost the toss, Luca Fasci inserted the visitors who were initially kept quiet by some tight bowling from Adam Morrison (4 overs 0-5 runs) whilst Jack Knox dealt some serious damage to the Thrumpton top order returning figures of 4-24 in his 4 overs. Some indifferent fielding and some aggressive batting from the Thrumpton No 4 (64*) placed the batting side in a great position to accelerate. Step up, Toby (Stokesy) Edwards - charging in to take a catch on the boundary, he realised that he had misjudged the trajectory and thrust a single hand out to take the catch of the season. Thrumpton set a competitive total of 129 off their 20 overs.

Ashby were not daunted by this impressive total and remained calm even with the loss of two early wickets and falling significantly behind the run rate. Zach Heard (25*) looked in total control and once he was joined by the Ashby captain the tide started to turn. The Ashby pair orchestrated an extremely mature run chase. Luca Fasci's ball striking was at times brutal but this was not just mindless hitting. He demonstrated a full range of shots to all parts of the ground supported by faultless shot selection. Congratulations to Luca on his first of many 50s and to the Ashby team on the improvements made since the beginning of the season. A great 8 wicket win!
