Ladysmith First team travelled to East Lancashire Papermill on Saturday and following heavy rain the night before, were put in to bat on a damp wicket.

Papermill made the most of the conditions starting off strongly, reducing Ashton to 10 for 2 before resistance from John Hillson (17) and Khaleeq Rehman (33) moved the score on to 70 with Joe Walsh the only other Ashton player to reach double figures (12) taking the score to 93ao.

Ladysmith began their defence with Khaleeq and Joe Walsh, following their performances in the previous game, however, an afternoon of sunshine had taken everything out of the pitch for the bowlers. Khaleeq took the first wicket for Ladysmith as Robinson fell LBW for 11. Then followed a change in the bowling, Ladysmith used 7 different bowlers, East Lancashire proceeded to 95-1 off 20.2 overs, with Greaves adding 32, and Dodson 43.
