TOWN TOP OF THE NWCFL RESPECT CHARTS

With the first month of the season completed, I can now give an update in terms of which teams have managed to play games without any sanctions being taken against their players.
Obviously, the Respect markings are in their early stages and a clearer picture will come along within the next couple of months.
I am very disappointed that there have been dugout failures already, albeit only a couple, and I have been even more disappointed that 4 sides have amassed 5 or more cautions in one game. I have dealt with that club by club, or await FA decisions, but that aside I would prefer to look at the positive side of our campaign.
The majority of our clubs have embraced the campaign with gusto.
For their efforts during the month of August, many teams need to be complimented, and because of the increase, rather than write to every club after each successful game, I would prefer to highlight this on the League website so that they get a more public recognition.
Ashton Town have managed to play in 5 games without sanctions to their players.
Alsager Town, Ashton Athletic, Daisy Hill and Runcorn Linnets have managed to play 4 games without sanctions.
This is no mean feat.
During the same month, we had 18 fixtures in which not a single player from either side received a sanction. Some clubs blame the referee when things go badly, so I would like to mention the 18 referees, who regularly referee on our League, who have proven in these games that when players have the right attitude, it is easier to man manage situations rather than show cards.
This disproves the excuse that the referee is at fault when things go badly!! It is up to club managers to foster this attitude within their players, as this creates a much more enjoyable game for all participants.

On behalf of the League's Management Committee, I would like to offer congratulations to all these clubs, and recognise that the majority of clubs are committed to the cause with their co-operation being appreciated.
John Cowley, Vice-Chairman, North West Counties Football League
