On Tuesday evening (28 August) Ash United's unbeaten league run continued - alongside Frimley Green's unbeaten run in league so far - but it was a close shave. In the tightest contest of the season to date, Ash United went a goal down when Frimley Green's Zak Horkan scored on 24 minutes. The match, which although keenly contested by the local rivals, was not worthy of the 7 cautions handed out by the match referee, with Ash United "winning" this particular contest by 4 to 3.
Using a "get out of jail free" card, Ash United, through Kieran Williams' run into the Frimley Green box and his sheer persistence in bearing down on goal, brought about a penalty and Jack Fitzgerald slotted home - in the 85th minute. You could almost feel the tension around the ground ease, as home supporters celebrated the "late late show". Talking of supporters, some 110 people attended the match, giving Ash its best gate in this early part of the new season.
