The Aston Edwardian Association Board are delighted to announce that they have agreed on a plan for the refurbishment of the clubhouse which will commence in January 2025.
This has been made possible, in part, by a £10,000 grant from the RFU which was part of an initiative to make clubhouses more versatile and appealing to a wider audience.
The project will be carried out in 3 phases –
Phase 1 – redecoration of the lobby area and toilets, to include new doors leading into the front and back bars
Phase 2 – improved lighting in the back bar and lobby (with the labour being supplied gratis thanks to Matt Loffman’s company)
Phase 3 – extending the opening between the front and back bars, with new bi-fold doors
Shortening the bars to create more space
Changing the seating in the front bar to provide more flexibility
Revamping and decluttering the space behind the bar
New flooring around the bar areas
Redecoration of both bars
At the same time, new/replacement signage will be added at the main gate and above the front door, along with a repositioning/consolidation of trophy cabinets, photographs, memorabilia etc
Inevitably there will be a degree of disruption during this time, so please bear with us whilst the improvements are being undertaken.
The overall intention is to provide members with a comfortable, welcoming environment, whilst also freeing up space and making the clubhouse even more attractive for both internal and external functions.
If anyone has any questions about the proposals, or can offer any assistance, please speak to one of the Directors – Neil Glasby, Paul Bradley, Julie Channer, Grace Harris, Gordon Loffman or Ethan Channer.
