We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Alfie Lewis.
Lewis joined West Ham at the age of eight and spent 12 years at the club, playing over 60 times for the Hammers' Premier League 2 side, as well as making 12 appearances for the under-21 side that took part in the EFL Trophy playing against the likes of Coventry City, Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town, Bristol Rovers, Newport County, Cheltenham Town, Portsmouth and Peterborough.
Alfie then made the move to Ireland to play for St Patrick’s Athletic, where he had a fantastic season with the Dublin based outfit, playing 31 times, scoring three goals, winning the FAI Cup in front of 37,126 at Aviva Stadium and finishing second in Ireland’s top league.
Those performances saw Alfie catch the eye of several football league clubs, with Plymouth Argyle capturing his signature upon the expiry of his deal with St Patrick’s Athletic in January 2022. Alfie made his Argyle debut against Birmingham City in the Emirates FA Cup in 1-0 victory which set up a fourth round tie at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea which ended in a 2-1 defeat. Lewis made his league debut for the club on 25 January 2022, coming off the bench in a 3–3 draw away to Fleetwood Town.
The midfielder saw his time at Home Park affected due to an injury, and in July 2022 Alfie joined Dundalk for an undisclosed fee. He made a total of 42 appearances, scoring 1 goal in his season and a half with the club, before leaving at the end of his contract.
The 25 year old has been training with The Millers for the last couple of weeks and signs on the dotted line, we look forward to seeing him in action.
