Aveley Football Club can unfortunately announce central defender Harry Gibbs has departed Parkside to play at a higher level.

A firm fan-favourite Harry Gibbs has decided it is best for his career to play and challenge himself at a higher level and has made the move to Isthmian Premier League side Hornchurch.

Harry Gibbs made 129 appearances for The Millers, scoring 12 goals. His first season with The Millers was back in 2015/16 where he made his debut away against Dereham Town. Since then in 2016/17 he made 31 appearances and won Young Player of the Season at the club which saw him play at both right-back and centre half.

During the 2017/18 season, Harry made 5 appearances before leaving when former manager Terry Spillane was in charge. That move saw him go to Brentwood Town where he featured at both right-back and centre half where he made 47 appearances, scoring four goals, one of them, of course, coming against us.

After a great season for the Blues, former manager James Webster made the move to bring Gibbo back to Parkside, making 36 appearances, scoring three goals coming against Dereham Town, Great Wakering Rovers and Witham Town.

Last season was undoubtedly his best for the club with some outstanding performances for his still young age. Despite the season coming to a short end Gibbo made 41 appearances and scored six goals, most famously the winner Away at Hornchurch in the FA Trophy.

Everyone associated with Aveley Football Club would like to wish Harry all the best for the future.
