Last season Nzengo was on dual registration between Romford and former National South side East Thurrock United. For Romford he was involved in 9 goals in 15 appearances, scoring four and assisting five.

Jonathon joined Romford at the beginning of the 2017/18 season and went on to make 54 appearances scoring 9 and assisting three times. His performances caught the eye of Jon Coventry who signed him on dual registration to play in the National South and featured heavily more and more as the season went on.
