Millers deserved win over conference South side Chelmsford city sees them go into the last eight of the Essex Senior Cup.

Fantastic team performance sees the Millers progress and really outplay a strong Conference South team in Chelmsford City. The Millers were missing five/six key players but still managed to overcome a strong Chelmsford City line-up who were missing Lee Sawyer and also first team goalkeeper.

Aveley started the game the strongest, Theo Ola was put through on goal, but it was well saved by Niklas Freund, it came back to Ola but his second shot he missed the ball.

Chelmsford's first attack of the game came as Leon Redwood got past Paul Preston, he crossed it in but Billy Sendall was there with a great covering tackle.

Tyler Devlin again was superb throughout the whole game, and Millers used him well as the wingers and midfield played off of him. Marrable launched the ball forward, Tyler Devlin out-muscled Mambo and headed the ball to Kyle Asante, but his shot was straight at Freund this time.

Tyler Devlin then got in after a mistake by Mambo, but it looked like he didn't know whether to chip or to place the ball towards goal, he did twice and the ball landed the wrong side of the post.

What could have been a turning point in the game in favour of Chelmsford almost happened. Free kick to the Clarets, and Mambo stand James Marrable collided, and seemed that James would have to be replaced by Lewis Rowland. Fortunately James Marrable was able to carry on.

Millers then took the lead, great football build up, as Theo Ola was allowed more space due to Sammy Knott's run outside him, Ola played it into Tyler Devlin who later it off to Mathias Bakare and he placed it into the bottom corner to send the Millers one infront. Millers 1-0 Chelmsford.

What the Millers had to do was not concede until half time and make it difficult for Chelmsford. But one minute later, Chelmsford equalised. The cross is really should've been cleared, it landed to Michael Cheek, who finished superbly into the top corner. Aveley 1-1 Chelmsford.

Now what Chelmsford had to do was go on the front foot and get another goal before half time. Whereas, the Millers went back in the lead with a superb goal. Great ball in by Sammy Knott landed at Kyle Asante's feet who finished superbly on his left foot, to get his first goal of his second spell at Aveley to send the Millers infront for the second time of the game. Aveley 2-1 Chelmsford.

Chelmsford came again, Michael Cheek was their only real life-wire and his shot looked to be going wide but James Marrable made sure for a Chelmsford corner with a minute to go until half time. The ball came in, Tyler Devlin chested it down and hoofed it away to reach half time.

Half Time- Aveley 2-1 Chelmsford.

Aveley came out firing, and really should've been awarded a stonewall penalty after three minutes of the restart, Theo Ola got through two players inside the Chelmsford box, as soon as he was about to fire his shot, he was brought down to the floor, but the referee wasn't interested at all. The "I've seen them given" phrase comes to mind seeing it.

Kyle Asante had a big chance too, but as the ball bounced to him be just didn't seem to connect with it to be able to double his tally for the Millers.

Chelmsford against the run of play then equalised with their second touch in the opposition area, Michael Cheek looked a mile offside as the Millers last man Junior Baker was standing on the penalty spot and Cheek was on the six yard box, however the flag stayed down and he finished superbly over James Marrable with a cheeky chip. Aveley 2-2 Chelmsford.

It did get to a time where it felt like all the decisions were going against the Millers. As Billy Sendall again put in a brilliant tackle to superbly win the ball off Michael Cheek but for some reason the referee gave a free kick.

Marcus Elliott then came on and replaced Kyle Asante.

The Millers regained control of the game and should've led through a superb reaction header by Junior Baker, it did look over the line, and I'm sure with goal line technology it would've said the ball was in, but Baker's reaction header was matched superbly by a great reaction save by Freund who was keeping the Clarets in the game.

Theo Ola was then replaced by Hassan Jollah, Jollah to make his first home appearance since signing for the Millers.

Tyler Devlin found himself free as the ball came over the top to him and his low shot was again brilliantly saved by Freund as he stretched himself out to make him look massive in the Chelmsford goal. If it wasn't for him, the scoreline could've been embarrassing for the Conference South side.

With the Millers next attack, we took the lead for the third time. Sammy Knott near post corner caused trouble at the near post and Tyler Devlin capitalised on slack defending as he cracked the winner off the underside of the bar. Aveley 3-2 Chelmsford.

Chelmsford could've actually equalised again, as Cheek got through the Millers defence, he almost went round James Marrable but his fingertip managed to move Cheek away from the certain goal, he then crossed it in, but the header was cleared away by Billy Sendall anod then eventually Junior Baker.

Millers March into the last eight of the competition- Aveley 3-2 Chelmsford.
