A great team performance seals Aveley's forth win on the bounce to take the Millers to 6th in the Ryman North

A rainy day set this local derby between Tilbury and Aveley, was a well contested game with no bad tackles and no back chat to the referee. And I must say the referee controlled the temperature of the game very well and Mr.Mellor and his Assistant referee's did very well in a game where one tackle could have been the event that made players boil over, overall the referee had a very good game.

Straight from the start Aveley had a chance as a ball came in by Billy Coyne which was headed away but only as far as Petrit Elbi, who shot low and hard but it was straight at the goalkeeper. Was a bright start from Aveley as the shot came in the first 45 seconds of the game.

At the other end Tilbury's Harry Cook's shot is fired towards goal but it was well saved by James Marrable and it was put out for a corner. The corner was then taken but it was headed away well by Billy Coyne. Tilbury then came again as they attacked with numbers, the ball fell to Joe Carlile whose shot was blocked very well by Alex Stavrinou as he threw his body to block that shot out for a corner. The Tilbury corner was again defended well by Aveley's solid back four.

The Millers then attacked again as a long throw by Billy Coyne was headed back out to Billy, he crossed the ball which landed to Danny Francis who shoots and the ball hits Lee Weemes and eventually went out for a corner. But the corner didn't really threaten and was cleared comfortably by the Tilbury defence.

Tilbury then attempted a long ball which skimmed Teddy Nesbitt's head and unfortunately went out for a corner. The corner was taken by Sam Cutler towards the near post where it was met by Sam West but he smacked it over the bar.

Aveley started to get into the right positions and they put dangerous crosses into the box but no one was in there to finish the hard work off, Danny Francis and Marcus Elliott were feeding off Lee Weemes and Petrit Elbi winning the headers, but because they were winning the headers there wasn't anyone in the box in time to get into the box to finish off the chances.

Tilbury came close again as Tilbury's right back passed to Harry Cook who fired his shot into the side netting, that was the closest anyone really came to breaking the deadlock in this game. 25th minute, Tilbury 0-0 Aveley.

The deadlock was broken by Aveley from a corner which is won by Teddy Nesbitt as he played it against a Tilbury defender. Billy Coyne takes it and both Spencor Harrison and Junior Baker challenged for the ball and Junior managed to direct it into the top corner in off the bar to put Aveley in the lead after 28 minutes. Tilbury 0-1 Aveley.

The next moment in the game Junior Baker controlled the ball with a poor touch as it went straight to Francis Babalola who went inside into his left foot, shoots and he dragged his shot wide of the target, no real threat for James Marrable, chomp really didn't have to do much during the game.

Half time: Tilbury 0-1 Aveley

The hard working Lee Weemes carved open his own opportunity in the open minute of the second half but his right foot shot unfortunately was straight at the Tilbury goalkeeper. There wasn't many real clear cut chances in the second half as the rain was making the pitch very heavy, Tilbury were doing their best to get into the game but Aveley's back four have been fantastic in these past four games and look difficult to break down.

Matty Bakare came on for Danny Francis.

A corner was then given to Tilbury by the linesman on the far side even though the cross by Tilbury's left back went straight out. Fortunately the corner was headed wide of the goal so there was no controversy in the game. Petrit Elbi was then taken off and on came Theo Ola for his debut.

Marcus Elliott was having one of those fantastic games, he tracked back, put tackles in, created chances and also contributed towards the superb passing exchange between himself and Billy Coyne down the right hand side. Elliott then drilled the ball in but was cleared well by Tilbury's Sam West for a corner. The corner came in from Teddy Nesbitt, but Junior Baker's header was just over the bar. Inches away from making it 2-0.

Another quick movement almost brought about Aveley's second. Quick thinking from Bakare as he throws the ball to Lee Weemes who played it back to Bakare who has tonnes of space as he gets in behind, but unfortunately Matty over hits his cross and it is cleared by a Tilbury. Somehow it was still Tilbury 0-1 Aveley.

Another substitution as Lee Weemes goes off for Aaron Gayle.

The referee added four minutes onto the game. Tilbury attempted a long ball which went over the Aveley back line, almost ran to a Tilbury attacker if it wasn't for James Marrable commanding his area as he caught the ball.

Aveley make it four wins in the trot with three clean sheets. A recovery after the first two games ended in defeat fantastic comeback by Aveley to come up to 6th place, level on points with 5th place Thamesmead Town.

Full Time: Tilbury 0-1 Aveley.
