Two big decisions go to Harlow as they squeeze past the Millers.

The first five minutes was a very tight affair, as both sides eyed each other up to see what they faced throughout the game.

Harlow took control of the game as they had a guilt edge chance. Great interchange between Smith and Read. Read's first shot was saved brilliantly by James Marrable, Read then shot again but it struck the post and bounced back into James Marrable's gloves.

The first twenty minutes the Millers couldn't get a grip of the game as Harlow came again but this time Junior Appiah's shot was blocked superbly by Sammy Knott.

Harlow took the lead in a goal that had been coming, Appiah for the only time in the game got away from Knott with his lightning pace he played the ball into the back post in which Simms tapped into an empty net. Aveley 0-1 Harlow.

After the opener the Millers came out and took controlled the game, Jack Stevenson was the live wire as he had the first shot for Aveley. He took it early as he tried to catch Thompson out but he Hawks keeper was equal to it.

On the Millers next attack they did have the ball in the back of the net, I thought it was Marcus Elliott who bundled it in, but I didn't see anything wrong with it, however the goal was disallowed by the linesmen. Some have said it was for handball and others have said it was for kicking the ball out of Thompson's hands. But the score remained 1-0 Harlow.

With Millers next attack they did equalise, a fantastic charging run by Jack Stevenson as he tore the Harlow midfield apart. Jack played it out wide to Marcus Elliott, Sammy Knott made a superb run from left back to get the pass off of Marcus, it was then a pass by Marcus who set up Jack Stevenson 20 yards out and he finished into the top corner superbly. Aveley 1-1 Harlow.

Millers pilled the pressure on as Harlow defence got deeper and deeper, the Hawks had their keeper to thank making a few smart saves to keep Harlow level nearing half time.

Harlow could've then had a penalty as Alex Read was running through on goal, he was pulled down by Billy Sendall but no penalty was given.

Half Time- Aveley 1-1 Harlow.

Aveley started on top in the second half. Great skill and work by Theo Ola as he crossed in to Marcus Elliott who seemed to be pushed in the back and went to ground, but much like Harlow's shout before half time it wasn't given.

Jack Stevenson then had one of the best efforts I've seen this season as he was over a free-kick about 40 yards out. He smacked it, at first I thought he over hot it, but it dipped and crashed on the under side of the bar and just the right side of the line for Harlow, who scrambled it away.

Aveley's first substitution was made as Tyler Devlin came on for Marcus Elliott.

Harlow re-took the lead with the main talking point of the game. Since seeing the replay people are still split. Alex Read was played in by Smith, at first viewing he looked a good few yards offside, but he finished like everyone knows he can. As the linesman has only got one chance to give it, you do have to feel sorry for him having to make a decision like that. Few neutrals who were in-line said it was offside and few have said that Read was onside. Aveley 1-2 Harlow.

Arian Retkoceri came off for Kyle Asante.

Millers came banging on the door again, long throws by Billy Sendall caused a lot of trouble but Devlin couldn't get his head on it to get it down for people to finish. Sammy Knott corners just didn't land to the Millers when they desperately needed them too.

But to Harlow's credit they held on well and got the win that they were desperate for to close the gap on Needham Market with a game in hand.

Millers will need to move on and get the three points on Saturday at home to in-form Brightlingsea Regent.

Full Time- Aveley 1-2 Harlow.
