Elbi penalty separates Aveley and Cheshunt

The Millers put the disappointment of the weekends performance by getting back to winning ways against Cheshunt tonight.

The Millers were looking strong at the back with a settled back four whom were a big part of the good run at the start of the season, Cooper did get in behind, but his cross was c,eared well by Junior Baker out for a Cheshunt corner. Their corner was then cleared by Spencer Harrison.

Theo Ola returned to the team, and was instrumental in the Millers win, he was the bright spark in the game, everytime he was unleashed his pace off and on the ball was different clash, and he really showed his true potential.

Theo Ola again showed his ability as he came inside and was taken down by Llewellyn. Petrit Elbi stepped up and banished his demons from missing his penalty in the FA Cup and buried his penalty superbly, the goalkeeper had no chance even though he did go the right way. Aveley 1-0 Cheshunt.

The Millers hard defensive work showed as Fheshunt were restricted to 25 yard shots which both went over the bar, both efforts from Josh Cooper, but James Marrable did have both covered in case they creped unto the bar.

Theo Ola again was fouled as he glided past Cheshunt's left hand side, Alex Stavrinou took the free kick, but Marcus Elliott was called offside.

Alex Stavrinou then took one brilliantly for the team, Cheshunt countered and Stav did the correct thing and brought down a Cheshunt forward, the ball did land to Cooper with a three on one attack, but thankfully the referee brought the game back and handed Alex Stavrinou a yellow card.

Half Time- Avely 1-0 Cheshunt.

Sammy Knott was replaced at half time for Danny Hopkins, wasn't too sure if it was due to injury, hopefully he's not missing for our game on Saturday away at Great Wakering.

Cheshunt were on top in the second half. They had three great chances, Marrable saved well and pushed it out for a corner. The corner came in was headed by Elenge but his header was straight at James Marrable.

Aveley defended well again, a looping header was cleared off the line by Spencer Harrison at the back post.

Tyler Devlin then came on and held the ball up well for Petrit Elbi, but his shot was easily saved by Williamson, Tyler had a shot of his own, but on a boggy pitch his shot just got stuck under his feet and was saved by Williamson again.

Aveley rallied nearer the end of the game as Chesunt were left open at the back, Aveley countered and the ball went out for a corner. Teddy Nesbitt corner was put in well but Spencer Harrison's header was just out over the bar.

A solid performance by a tired Aveley side having to play a lot of football in a short space of time. Only two defeats in the last six games as we travel to Great Wakering on Saturday.
