Thurrock score four first half goals to inflict Millers their second defeat in five days

On Tuesday we found ourselves 2-0 down inside eight minutes, on Saturday again, we found ourselves two down inside eight minutes.

Just when I got to my seat a free-kick was awarded to Thurrock on the edge of the area. Lewis Spence stepped up and curled it into the top corner, out of reach of James Marrable in the Aveley goal. Aveley 0-1 Thurrock.

Just a few minutes later, James Marrable pulled out a superb save, as he clawed the ball out of going into the top corner of the goal, the ball went out for a corner. The corner was then taken but the header was straight at James Marrable.

The next attack Thurrock had, they scored. Stimson somehow got through on goal after sloppy play at the back from the Millers defence, and Stimson managed to slide the ball under the keeper, and into the back of the net. Aveley 0-2 Thurrock.

Aveley finally had their first shot, Billy Coyne the man who had it, but it didn't trouble Walker as it went straight at him. The next shot Aveley had, almost creped in. Sammy Knott who returned from injury fully to start shot, but Walker could only Palm it over his own body and thankfully for him and Thurrock just inches wide the post.

Another great save from James Marrable, as Lamah Reynolds did superbly to find the cross to Stimson who headed towards the top corner, but Marrable again somehow managed to turn the ball away and out for another a Thurrock corner. From the corner Thurrock added to the scoresheet. The corner was taken short, Stimson back heeled to Goode who directed the ball into the bottom corner. Aveley 0-3 Thurrock.

Teddy Nesbitt was awarded a yellow card, for what must of a been a pull on Goode's shirt. Petrit Elbi was kicked off the ball, and went down holding his ankle, after treatment, he got up and walked off to the side of the pitch. The linesman looked to have waved him on, but the referee told Elbi to get off the pitch again and then booked him.

The next incident, Teddy Nesbitt ran down at goal, was taken out by Spence, who got none of the ball, the referee waved play on, Thurrock went up the other end with Stimson, Spencer Harrison looked to have slipped on the slippery surface, he's barley touched Stimson, who went down like he had been shot, in true footballer fashion, the referee awarded the penalty and handed Spencer Harrison a straight red card, which means he will miss the next three games. Onyemah then stepped up and smashed the ball down the middle to send Thurrock 4-0 up going into the break.

Half Time: Aveley 0-4 Thurrock.

Good work from Thompson for Thurrock down the right hand side, played in a superb ball which was just missed by the two arriving strikers in the middle of the goal.

Aveley had their first attack of the second half as Petrit Elbi turned brilliantly and was through on goal, but the referee brought the game back and awarded Aveley a free-kick, to the shock of the Aveley supporters. Billy Coyne stepped up for the free-kick and just missed the goal by a whisker.

A double change then occurred as Sammy Knott went off after a heavy challenge he had received, and on came Billy Holland. And also Alex Stavrinou replaced Marcus Elliott. A few minutes later Aveley made their third change as Theo Ola came on for Danny Francis.

Theo Ola was straight into the action as he ran at the Thurrock back line, shot, but is straight at the goalkeeper, who fumbled, but no-one followed up for the Millers.

Elbi then ran towards the goal and was taken out from behind and Lewis Clarke was given a yellow card by the referee.

The second half was really a none event, the game was already finished, although the Thurrock didn't really threat Aveley that much in the second half, Aveley were restricted to long shots, and required something special to beat Walker.

The last action of the game was when Petrit Elbi ran through an opponent after he had kicked the ball, and when a player goes down like that, with a tackle like that, it just presents the opportunity for the referee to give you a second yellow card, which indeed he did. Red card for Petrit Elbi which means he misses the game tomorrow night against Redbridge in the Robert Dyas cup.

Full Time Aveley 0-4 Thurrock.
