It was an afternoon and performance to learn and swiftly move on from for Aveley who suffered our first defeat of the season since promotion to the Isthmian Premier League.
Nick Dembele got the goal-scoring off to a start after the hosts' claims for a penalty were waved away after Brendon Shabani was shoved in the back after link-up play between him and George Sykes, Bognor countered and Nick Dembele drifted past Steward before sweeping home from the edge of the area. We got back into the game as George Sykes chipped the keeper after latching onto a ball over the top to get us back into the game.
Bognor Regis went ahead for the second time in the game and never looked back, Jon Nzengo was unfortunate and diverted a cross past David Hughes in the Aveley goal to give The Rocks the lead. Five minutes later and Bognor Regis were out of sight, Alfie Bridgman took aim from 20 yards out and found the bottom right hand corner of the goal to send the visitors into half time leading 3-1.
A minute into the second half and Bognor Regis Town almost made it four, but Aveley's goalkeeper David Hughes pulled off a magnificent save to deny Isaac Olaniyan from close range.
In midweek Nathan Odokonyero scored two goals within five minutes of each other, and a few days later he repeated the feat at Parkside. On the 62nd minute Nathan kept the ball with great close control before unleashing a shot into the goal for his third of the season. Four minutes later and he scored his fourth of the season and Bognor's fifth of the game after a penalty was awarded Odokonyero stepped up and converted the spot kick for number five.
Goal number six came six minutes after The Rocks' fifth goal, this time from Isaac Olaniyan who was on the end of some pinball in the Aveley area to knee home from close range. Bognor almost added a seventh late on but the strike at goal just went past the right hand post. A fantastic victory for Bognor Regis which sees them go top of the table after three matches.
