A much changed Aveley side are knocked out of the Robert Dyas cup by in-form Redbridge

Another sloppy start for the Millers as inside a minute, Redbridge took the lead. It looked like handball in the build up to the goal, as Redbridge went out wide, it was played into McKenzie who tapped in from close range at the back post. Aveley 0-1 Redbridge.

Starting for the first time this season, Elias Armah-Tackie, he looked lively and quick in the first half he played, he went past George Winn who pulled back on Elias top and he was shown the yellow card by the referee.

Aveley had small attacks in the first half, but didn't have that 'thing' in the final third that would've made the difference. Theo Ola had his long range shot comfortably saved by Jack Avery in goal for Redbridge. Billy Holland played a ball over the Redbridge defence, Aaron Gayle used his pace to get on the end of it, but Avery comes out and hits the ball off Aaron Gayle for a Redbridge goal kick.

Redbridge came again, but for fantastic blocks from Aziz Kanu and Perry Tamburrini, the Millers would've found themselves even further behind.

Despite the heroics of the defence, they had no chance in stopping a quite fantastic finish by Shane Wallace. He turned onto his left foot, the ball sat up perfectly for him to smash it past James Marrable, into the back of the net. Aveley 0-2 Redbridge.

Aveley again tried a long ball, which Elias Armah-Tackie was able to get on the end of, he pulled it back for Aaron Gayle, who shot was saved well by Avery, to deny the hosts a goal back just before the break.

Just before the half time whistle went, Alex Stavrinou went in full blooded with two feet on the floor, and he was given a yellow card, which could have easily been a red card, had the referee been in a different mood.

Half Time- Aveley 0-2 Redbridge

There were two changes at half time for the Millers as Lee Weemes and Billy Coyne both came on, and off went Elias Armah-Tackie and Perry Tamburrini.

Theo Ola was causing trouble, as he was given a free role in the second half, he was then taken down by Mark Nougher, and he was given a yellow card.

Aveley then won their first corner of the game, and due to the heigh of Aaron Gayle, pulled a goal back. Teddy Nesbitt''s ball in caused trouble for Jack Avery, as Aaron Gayle was above everyone else, and he header end in off the bar. Aveley 1-2 Redbridge.

Redbridge should have been given a penalty, poor touch from Aziz Kanu let his man in, he tried to recover, but only took his man down, the referee waved it away then gave a free kick to Aveley, and booked the forward for an apparent 'dive'.

After fantastic work by Lee Weemes put Aaron Gayle through on goal, you would have thought it was the equaliser for Aveley, but Gayle never looked comfortable with the ball at his feet and his shot was well wide after the defenders applied some pressure.

Five minutes was then added on as Aveley continued to poor deep into the Redbridhe half, but the motormen stood strong.

Billy Holland then had a guilt edge chance as he managed to get free inside the Redbridge penalty area, but his shot/cross was poor and was cleared for a corner. The corner was whipped in but was headed wide of the goal for a goal kick.

Full Time- Aveley 1-2 Redbridge.
