Weemes strikes twice to put Tilbury out of sight

If you wanted to see everything that could happen in a match, then this game was the one for you, bookings, goals, great football, James Marrable whipping his cap off in comedy fashion to head the ball and also an ambulance being called onto the pitch after a bad landing on the floor for Aaron Waters, which almost saw the game abandoned. Action lacked match report, let's begin.

Aveley were quick off the blocks as they attacked in the first minute of he he game with Brian Okwera smashing his way through challenges, but was brought down and a free-kick was given, Coyne lined it up but his shot looped off a defenders leg into Tilbury's Chico Ramos' arms.

Aveley attacked again this time down the right hand side where Billy Coyne played the ball over Waters head to Lee Weemes, who controlled the ball well and from a tight angle he managed to squeeze the ball under Chico Ramos and into the back of the net to bag his first goal of the season and give Aveley a dream start away to rivals Tilbury in the Thurrock derby.

From Aveley's next attack, we doubled our lead. Danny Hopkins managed to dance his way into Tilbury's box, although a chance looked like it opened it's way for him to shoot, he laid it off to Daniel Francis who smashed it across Chico Ramos again, into the bottom corner. Inside nine minutes Aveley were two goals to the good.

It was almost three for Aveley only four minutes later. Fantastic football by Aveley, lead to Billy Coyne getting the ball and crossing it into Marcus Elliott, who leaned back to get the ball but this time the ball only found it's away into the goalkeepers arms instead in the back of the net.

Aveley attacked again with Petrit Elbi who got in behind by great passing again, but he could only force a corner this time. Nesbitt took the corner, Chico Ramos looked to have fallen over one of his own defenders, the ball found it's way to Marcus Elliott who directed the ball towards the back of the net, the Tilbury players couldn't do anything about it, and the ball found it's way nestling in the goal, amazingly after just 18 minutes, Aveley led 3-0.

You guessed it, Aveley attacked again, Lee Weemes looked to have beaten the offside trap, he tapped the ball into the bottom corner, only this time a late flag by the linesman on the near side to take his second away from him, for now.

After this, we started to get sloppy and let Tilbury push us back and their number 7 looked threatening as he got in and around Billy Coyne. Ryan Flack played in Tom Wood, who appeared to have shirt pulled by Junior Baker, but he got his shot and thankfully could only find the post. But again Ryan Flack got in behind and out three superb crosses in, but luckily enough everyone of his crosses didn't have a team mate committing himself to attack the ball, and because of that Tilbury didn't look like scoring.

Tilbury lived to regret those missed opportunities as Aveley attacked once more, after great work down the right hand side of Petrit Elbi, he pulled the ball back to to Billy Coyne, who puts in a fantastic ball into the back post, on a plate for Lee Weems who nodded the ball home to get his second and Aveley's forth, fantastic half for the Millers.

Half Time: Tilbury 0-4 Aveley

The second half was a strange one, Tilbury made two substitutions, but both Junior Baker and Spencer Harrison seemed to have been playing with knocks, at the time the game was against Harlow was still on, on Monday, so Junior did want to come off but battled through it as best as he could.

One of Tilbury's substitutes missed an absolute sitter as the ball landed kindly for him four yards out Tyler Hubbard seemed to panic and scuffed his shot wide of the target, probably one of the worst misses I've seen this season.

Aveley countered and a Billy Coyne long throw was headed behind for a corner to Aveley. Teddy Nesbitt took it short and played it to Lee Weemes, Weemes passed it back to Nesbitt who cross was agonisingly close to the far post to making it 0-5 to Aveley, was so close as you could see Chico Ramos puffing his cheeks.

One of the funniest sites I've now seen in football was when James Marrable whipped off his hat as he came out to head the ball away, but it seemed to happen in slow-motion, he did however manage to get the ball away well and Aveley survived.

Two substitutions then happened, one for Tilbury, which meant that they have used all of their subs, and Junior Baker was taken off due to the injury as he landed awkwardly at the end of the first half went off and on came Aziz Kanu.

Lee a Weemes and Aaron Waters both went up for a challenge, missed each other and Aaron Waters landed awkwardly and wasn't moving, it looked serious straight away as players were surrounding him on the floor, you could see him twitching his legs but part from that no movement at all. The referee told the players to get off the pitch and had word with his assistant and both sets of managers, the referee confirmed the game will be finished no matter how long it would have took to get Aaron in the ambulance. It took about forty minutes for the Ambulance to arrive and after they had left and taken Aaron to hospital, the Tilbury players then decided to walk in their dressing room and refused to play. The referee said the game will be finished and after Tilbury players were told to get back out there and finish the game, the game then restarted.

From the moment it started I had no idea what time it was or how long we would play for. Aveley made another change as Theo Ola back from injury came on for Daniel Francis.

In the final 19 minutes that we did play, no real openings were created or carved by Tilbury or Aveley.

Aveley made their third and final chance as Aryan Retkoceri came on for Marcus Elliott.

Billy Coyne had a free-kick which Chico Ramos got behind well, and the final play of the game occurred as Joe Christou headed over from six yards out for Tilbury over James Marrable's goal. It was obvious that both sets of players were taken back by what happened to Aaron Waters, reason why there wasn't really anything happening after that injury.
