Young girls in Horsham can now enjoy netball outside of school thanks to new Junior Club

If you watched the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this year, you may have caught some of the netball.

It may come as a surprise to some of you how much netball has changed. Gone are the days of the slow, static game most remember from their school days. We have now entered the era of elite sport where netballers are treated like athletes with physios, strategists, nutritionists, and avid fans that follow their every move.

Netball is a community for girls and women; it's a way to make friends, get involved in team sport, build confidence, compete, have fun, de-stress. The list is endless.

The popularity of netball has dramatically risen since the England Roses won Gold in the Commonwealth Games in 2018. Sky Sports now show all superleague games, whereas before you had to find a stream on Youtube, arenas and halls are packed out with avid netballers excited to watch their idols wow on court, and netball clubs are growing exponentially with nearly 3,000 across the country.

Aztec is now one of these clubs. Despite there being several clubs in Sussex and Surrey, there is not a netball club for young girls in Horsham. So Diane started one. And we are open for all. No matter what your ability, experience, or why you want to get involved, we are here. Netball is for all and that is our ethos.

We currently have two teams, an U12 and an U14. But we are open to taking other ages in the future and have plans to grow our offering. In the meantime, if you have any questions, contact either Diane or myself.
