The B team came out fighting, putting the A's under considerable pressure, with the A's only just securing a two-goal advantage thanks to a sharp finish from Cal Robb and a penalty flick by Andy Whiting. At halftime, with the score at 2-0, everything was still to play for.
HT 2-0
The B team’s defence initially held strong, stifling the A team’s advances as the second half got underway. But this resistance didn’t last long. The A team unleashed a flurry of five quick goals, with George Harrison and Martha Broderick each scoring one, Doug Quayle bagging a brace, and Andy Whiting netting his second of the day.
The real drama, however, unfolded after the final whistle when the A team was awarded a short corner. As the ball stayed alive after the initial attempt on goal, it rebounded to defender Lucy Kinrade. Amidst a crowded defence, Kinrade found the perfect gap to slot home the final goal, wrapping up a comfortable 8-2 victory.
