U16's beat Chesterton away to continue good run of form
Green u16's hit 10 to beat Chesterton 10-1 in the North Staffs Youth league on Sunday afternoon.
With a number of the team present to see the first team go on a goal rout in the cup on Saturday, the u16's followed suit with a sackful of goals in the league.
Making their first trip to the Red Street ground, Green started strongly but struggled to find the net with the Chesterton keeper in fine form and determined not to concede. Ryan Fern got the breakthrough latching on to a clever through ball from skipper Kyle Webster-Barks to slot home past the advancing keeper, Fern struck again from a Ryan Heery pass, before completing his first half hat-trick. Green conceded a penalty late in the 1st half to go in 3-1 up at the break.
In the second half Ryan Heery added to the tally with 4 goals, and Ryan Fearn netted again to make it 4 on the day for him too. Connor Brass and Kirk Plant chipped in with a goal apiece to bring up double figures for Green.
