In a fitting farewell to East Common, Ramzan Junior (last season’s MVP) knocked up a fine century whereupon Ramzan Senior, not to be outdone, made a fifty. With the ever reliable Kashif adding 30 before being run out (by the valedictorian), Bamville posted 249 in unnaturally dry conditions, if a touch chilly. Once our visitors took the field their hearts were speedily broken by a spell of viciously accurate bowling from last season’s Young Player of the Year, Amaan, very ably assisted by his cousin at the other end, posting 8,1, 4,16 and 8,0,2,37 respectively. Have Bamville found their Anderson and Broad? Ramzan Senior (c) got a couple of wickets too and by wisely not offering his brother a chance to bowl could fairly claim to be MOTM. Despite their opener carrying his bat, P&J subsided to less than half Bamville’s winning total just in time before darkness intervened and the home side started the season with an emphatic win.
