Draw At Home To Brimsdown

Draw At Home To Brimsdown

Adam Dennehey9 Nov 2024 - 19:30

Barkingside shared a 1-1 draw with Brimsdown yesterday in a Friday night clash under the lights at Cricklefields.

'Side took the lead after 14 minutes through Joseph Koroma, who stroked home a tidy finish past the keeper. The ball may have hit the forward on his arm in the build-up to the play, but the officials didn't see this and 'Side were ahead.

The score remained 1-0 to 'Side going into half-time and just as it looked as if the hosts would be edging towards a win, Brimsdown were awarded a controversial penalty.

One of their forward went down it appeared just outside the box following a brush of contact. The referee to the shock of the 'Side defence pointed to the spot with Eric Koudah's penalty just creeping in under debutant keeper Jayden Peglar on 74 minutes.

Two minutes later things got worse for 'Side as Peglar was given a straight red-card for a foul on the edge of the box.

That meant an outfield player had to go in goal and Gerard Thompson-Shaw did brilliantly keeping out several shots to ensure 'Side took a point from the game.

The result leaves 'Side following the weekend's games in 15th in the table, five points ahead of their opponents.

'Side are next in action away to Newbury Forest on Saturday 16th December, at our former home Oakside Stadium. Kick-off for that match is at 3pm.
