Following their resounding win against Whittleford the day before, Barley were in confident mood as they visited Bottisham & Lode, themselves flying high in Cambs Junior 1a. Skipper, Brian Symes lost the toss however and Barley were swiftly put in to bat by their hosts. Jamie Walters and Pip George opened for Barley and Walters was relieved to avoid a King Pair for the weekend, given his first ball duck the day before. Voice 6-0-27-2 and Darling 10-4-26-1 were hard to get away and in the 8th over George attempted a cover drive off Darling, missed it and was gone for 4. Richie Wilson, who had carried his bat the day before then continued his solid work and once again crafted a classy knock. Walters took the lead with some fine cuts to the point boundary and despite the tricky conditions continued scoring until he was eventually bowled by Voice just one run short of his 50. With Barley having made just 100 off 33 overs all subsequent bats chanced their arm against the bowling. Allan played across the line to Haynes 7-0-21-3 and was bowled for 5. Lalporwal repeated the shot for a duck and Shah also went in identical fashion for just 5. Symes was bowled by Voice for 9 and then Claydon 6-1-9-3 chipped in with a quick hat-trick as first Wilson went for 46 excellent runs and then Stewart was caught for yet another duck. Adam Pattison, a northerner, was then correctly judged LBW to give Claydon three wickets from three balls. Ghani and Graham Litson were left not out as Barley amassed what appeared a very modest 137 for 9 off their 40 overs.

In reply Bottisham & Lode quickly realised why Barley had found run scoring so difficult. The sticky, broken up pitch and long outfield were no friends of the batting side and Wakeel Shah 7-3-10-4 soon capitalised and had C Darling Bowled for 2 and G Darling for 4. Jimmy Ghani 8-3-11-4 then bowled Sale for 9 and the home team were in trouble. Durant, Haynes and Voice all went for ducks and Leigh Stewart 2-0-7-2 bowled Collins for 2. M Wilson ended on 4 not out as Bottisham and Lode slumped to a miserable 28 all out in just the 18th over.
