Barrow Town Vs Clifton All Whites

wade ball26 Aug 2021 - 11:31

The Riversiders Make it three on the spin.

Clifton All Whites were the visitors on Tuesday night and although Clifton had only picked up one point in there first three games Barrow Town still didn't take this lightly.

Barrow started on the front foot pressing the Clifton defence high and after around 8 Minutes a defensive calamity resulted in Prad Bahrey taking the ball of the goalkeeper and firing into an empty net. 1-0 barrow. we then had the ever dangerous nick reeves meet two headers that both scraped the bar. unlike barrow it seem to throw barrow into a game they don't normally play by allowing long ball after long ball to be smashed over by the Clifton defence.
Clifton Offered very little attackingly but with one of there only shots of the game for the visitors 10 minutes before the half a long ball dropped to a midfielder on the edge of the box who hit a sweet strike into the far corner to make it 1-1. this is how the first half ended.

Barrow town at half time clearly changed there tactics and went out to completely press the Clifton side all over the park. incoming traffic alert. barrow town took control of the game. and within 3 minutes of the interval retook the lead after a delicious ball from prad bahrey onto the penalty spot from a free kick got nodded home by Oliver Preston. 2-1 barrow. This began wave after wave of barrow attacks and with wade ball getting on the ball in midfield Clifton couldn't get near barrow and the counter attacked barrow posed. two should have been three when Andrei Racalea drilled a superb volley goalward and the keeper made and wonderful save to push the effort onto the bar. then a long diagonal ball found the left back for Clifton in no mans land and dean Hopewell came in to snatch the ball and with the full back one on one with the goalkeeper spurned the chance after the keeper yet again made a wonderful save. finally 2 became three when dean Hopewell in a more advanced position hit a shot/cross across the box that evaded everyone and rolled into the far corner. 3-1 barrow town.

Nick reeves nearly made it four when a turn and shot from the edge of the box look to be finding the corner of the net but somehow the keeper yet again saved pushing it round the post.

nick reeves and substitute Dom Woolley along with wade ball started to control the game even more and with Jake McIntosh and Oliver Preston passing the ball around at will at the back, the game management from barrow just started to see the game out.

one final chance came though when prad bahrey sprung the offside trap and with the winger one on one with the goalkeeper seemed to completely lose all composure and with a lack lustre effort hit it straight at the on rushing goalkeeper which should have been another for the hosts.

Man of the match for the visitors had to be the goalkeeper who kept the score line looking respectable.

3 wins in a row for Barrow Town.
