Nicknamed 'The Bulldozer', 29-year old Atif has represented Pakistan since 2008 but was born in Germany, beginning his football career with Hertha Berlin.
Collecting 17 international caps over a five year period, Bashir participated in the 2010 Asian Games and in the early qualifying stages of the 2014 World Cup.
In September 2012, Atif sustained a significant injury playing for Barry at Haverfordwest County. The incident ending his 2012-13 season after only a handful of games and would rule him out of the entire 2013-14 title-winning campaign.
However, having successfully rehabilitated, Bashir made his return as a substitute at Briton Ferry last Saturday, impressing during the final half hour.
A versatile player with experience at the highest level of university football, as well as with Cardiff City, Atif makes a valuable addition to Gavin Chesterfield's playing staff for the coming season as he looks to increase his career tally of 73 appearances and four goals in Barry colours.
