Coach Lipton 1st XI vice captain- New signings in pipeline
Barton has a new first team captain in Steve Lewis.
The former Babbacombe batsman/wicketkeeper joined the Cricketfield Roads club as a youngster several years ago but opted for a spell down the road at rivals Torquay. But he returned 'home' and is now hoping to lead the side back into the A Division.
His vice-captain will be Matt Lipton, another player who has come up through the youth ranks at Barton and is one of the club coaches.
Chris Stubbs, a relative newcomer to Barton after several seasons with
Kingskerswell/Chelston, is the new skipper of the seconds. Experienced players Tom Porter and Dave Cadwallader will be giving 'Stubbsy' a hand with the twos.
Barton will have a midweek and Sunday league team operating this season with Andy Meredith and Chris Ward running the sides.
Lewis takes over the first team reigns from Adam Parker who has spent an incredible 13 seasons at the helm bagging a sackful of trophies along the way and has been thanked by the players and club.
He will still be playing an active role both as Club Captain. Jim Parker will once again be Cricket Manager.
Adam Last was skipper of the twos last year and did a brilliant job developing the club's younger players. He wants to focus on a place in the first team this coming summer.
The cricket committee is busy planning for the next campaign with a promotion bid a priority for Lewis and Parker with several surprise and useful signings in the pipeline.
The new appointments all bode well for the future and show the importance of Barton's policy to look after and develop its own players.
The club welcomes players of all ages and abilities. More details can be obtained by emailing torquayjim@gmail.com
