Barwell travel to Alvechurch on Tuesday 13 August looking for the first points of the season. Barwell lost the opening game to AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Saturday but their performance was better than the result.
The last visit made to Alvechurch ended in a 5-1 win for the Canaries in March and fans will be hoping for another positive result, although Alvechurch are much changed from last season. The summer saw a number of their players join the manager in departing for Stourbridge.
Alvechurch made the jump up to Step 3 football last season and equipped themselves well. They finished 4th in the league and made it to the playoff final only to lose at King’s Lynn Town.
Alvechurch kicked off this season at Royston Town but lost 3-0. This was Darren Byfield’s first game in charge. The 3 goals all came from clever set plays from Royston and Alvechurch didn’t create enough chances of their own to respond.
Both teams will be hoping for that first positive result of the season. The game kicks off at 7.45pm at Lye Meadow, B48 7RS.
